Bernard Sasu was born 15th February 1986 at The Mothers Hospital, London. He was the first child to parents Samuel and Grace Sasu, who migrated in the early 1980s from their homeland of Ghana.
It was in Hackney at a young age that Bernard would meet next door neighbour, Ryan Kelly. Growing up together, the pair attended the same school and forged an unbreakable bond of friendship, which would later develop into a dynamic business partnership.
In the early 1990s Bernard began taking an interest in hip-hop artists. The Notorious B.I.G, Nas and Jay-Z had him in awe with their silky rap flows, style and big budget videos. Bernard spent what little pocket money he had on buying all their albums and listened to them continuously.
Bernard took an even bigger interest in rap groups/mc in the UK. Closer to home the HEARTLESS CREW were his favourite group. With their catchy London flow and bubbling lyrics the group inspired him; he would lock in to their radio sessions and record their set on tape. It was through playing the tapes back and learning their lyrics that he taught himself how to MC and gave himself the name “Triple B”(bad boy b) which he used through his years as a popular MC. Bernard now acts under the name of “Burnz”, a name given to him by friends.
As his talent in MC’ing progressed Burnz joined the group Y.B.M and began broadcasting his lyrics to the capital on an underground pirate radio station. When the garage scene started to fade out Burnz used his initial love for rap music to put his efforts into co-finding the record label Abracadabra Records a label dedicated to UK Rap, with long-time friend Ryan Kelly. Together they have been able to complete an 18 track album/mixtape which has received some fantastic reviews. Abracadabra Records then went on to produce Burnz’s debut music video, set to his banging track “Burnz Anthem” with Ryan Kelly as producer.
Burnz is now acting as CEO of Abracadabra Records and devotes his time to the label both writing and performing his own material.
